Data Availability Policy

Shivaanya Publications is committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency, reproducibility, and integrity in scholarly publishing. As part of our dedication to promoting open science and research transparency, we have established a comprehensive data availability policy in accordance with the guidelines outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This policy aims to ensure that authors provide access to the underlying data and materials supporting their research findings, thereby facilitating replication, verification, and further exploration of the reported results.

Importance of data availability

Access to research data is critical for promoting transparency, reproducibility, and accountability in scientific research. By making data openly available, researchers can enable others to verify their findings, replicate their experiments, and build upon their work to advance scientific knowledge. Moreover, data sharing fosters collaboration, accelerates discovery, and enhances the impact and visibility of research outputs.

Definition of data availability

Data availability refers to the accessibility of the underlying research data and materials that support the findings reported in a scholarly publication. This may include raw data, processed data, code, algorithms, software, protocols, and other materials necessary for reproducing the reported results or conducting further analysis.

Policy statement

Authors submitting manuscripts to Shivaanya Publications are required to adhere to the following data availability policy,

Data sharing requirement

Authors are expected to make all relevant research data and materials freely and openly available to other researchers upon publication of their manuscript. This includes providing access to raw data, processed data, code, algorithms, software, and any other materials necessary for reproducing the reported results.

Data accessibility

Data and materials should be deposited in a trusted and publicly accessible repository or platform that provides persistent identifiers (such as DOIs) and ensures long-term preservation and accessibility. Authors should include a reference to the data repository and a unique identifier (e.g., DOI, URL) in the manuscript, preferably in a dedicated data availability statement.

Exceptions and restrictions

In cases where data sharing is not possible or appropriate due to legal, ethical, or confidentiality concerns, authors must provide a justification for the restriction and seek approval from the journal’s editorial team. Any restrictions on data sharing should be clearly communicated in the manuscript, along with an explanation of the reasons for the restriction.

Data availability statement

Authors should include a data availability statement in their manuscript, clearly indicating where the data and materials supporting the findings reported in the paper can be accessed. The data availability statement should also specify any restrictions on data sharing and provide contact information for requesting access to restricted data.

Compliance and verification

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the data and materials shared are accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant ethical and legal requirements. Editors and reviewers may verify the availability and quality of the data during the peer review process and may request additional information or clarification from the authors if necessary.

Persistent identification

Authors should ensure that the data and materials shared are assigned persistent identifiers (such as DOIs) to facilitate citation, attribution, and reuse by other researchers. Persistent identifiers help ensure the long-term accessibility and visibility of the shared data and materials.

Enforcement and compliance

Authors who fail to comply with the data availability policy may be subject to corrective action, including rejection of the manuscript, retraction of the published article, or suspension of future submissions to Shivaanya Publications. However, Shivaanya Publications recognizes that there may be legitimate reasons for not sharing data, and exceptions to the policy will be considered on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the editorial team.

Shivaanya Publications is committed to promoting open science, research transparency, and data sharing in scholarly publishing. By implementing a robust data availability policy in accordance with COPE guidelines, we aim to ensure that authors provide access to the underlying data and materials supporting their research findings, thereby enhancing the reproducibility, verifiability, and impact of published research.
